Anthony Edwards is seen as one of the future faces of the NBA — whether he wants the mantle or not. The 23-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves guard broke out on the national stage last season in leading his team to the Western Conference finals. This season, he’s continued his rise, adding a deadly 3-point shot to his already explosive athletic gifts.
But to lead the Timberwolves to an NBA championship and cement himself as one of the best of the best, Edwards needed to become more than a superstar player. He also needed to mature as a leader. Someone who can inspire his teammates and hold them accountable, both by example and with his voice.
In this video, I reveal some behind-the-scenes details from throughout the season to show how Edwards has embraced that challenge in guiding a Timberwolves team that experienced significant change just before the season. The work Edwards has done, both on and off the court, is the primary reason the Timberwolves eliminated the Lakers, one of the NBA’s flagship franchises, in five games in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
