Inside Rory McIlroy’s daughter’s bond with Shane Lowry’s daughter

It is no secret that Irish golfing stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry share a close friendship, so it’s not surprising that their daughters have also become best friends.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and it’s clear that the two little ladies are just like their fathers, especially considering the amazing putts they took at the family day of The Masters.

Rory revealed that his four-year-old daughter Poppy, who he shares with his wife Erica Stoll, hangs out with Shane and Wendy Lowry’s eldest child, seven-year-old Iris, all the time.

The Down man spoke about his little girl during his recent appearance on the US programme, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He revealed that Poppy was having a sleepover with Shane’s daughters, Iris and Ivy, as he spoke.

‘She’s actually having a sleepover with Iris tonight, so they’re they’re back together again,’ the proud father explained. The sports star is definitely happy about the friendship, saying it is both ‘super’ and ‘awesome’.

While Rory has been in the spotlight recently, having won the Masters, Poppy has also been grabbing the world’s attention. She went viral at the prestigious event after she sank an incredible shot with a gentle tap of the club on family day during the tournament.

The 36-year-old revealed she had one major concern after the big moment, which saw her panic as the crowd cheered for her, with Rory and Iris rushing over to comfort her.

He revealed that Poppy began to cry with the shock of everyone clapping, but when she calmed down, she had one main concern… whether people noticed her emotions getting the better of her.

‘She got a little overwhelmed and started to cry a little bit. So I picked her up, and then when we got back to the clubhouse, she wanted to see the video,’ he told Jimmy.

‘She was studying it, and she looked at me and she went: “It’s okay, Dad, I don’t think they caught me crying.” That was that’s all she was worried about,’ he laughed.

It looks like we just might have a future golf pro on our hands!
